Xbox Live extends Paypal scheme to non-US gamers – following Sony troubles

Following the recent Playstation Network shutdown and security fiasco, Microsoft may be looking to offer a safety net for those customers leaping from the Sony wreckage by extending the Paypal payment scheme for its own Xbox Live service to Non-American gamers for the first time.

International gamers will find it easier to pay for the online Xbox service and obtain downloadable content and digital media as of May 19th when scheduled system updates start to become available.

It’s very timely that these updates and promise of quick, easy and secure payments would come so closely after Sony’s troubles, but we have to bear in mind that the Xbox Live network is no stranger to hacking and security breaches itself, with a number of accounts being broken into over the past few years – including high profile hits and even Microsoft directors under threat.

Regardless, Microsoft look to come out as the gamer’s hero. But is this a statement or a scheduled coincidence?
