BBK Vivo X3 is the new world’s thinnest phone, breaks 6mm thickness barrier

  • by

Step aside, Huawei – there’s a new kid on the block. The company’s Ascend P6 recently took the coveted title of world’s thinnest smartphone but it’s about to be taken from them already, by a little-known Chinese manufacturer called BBK.

The phone in question is the BBK Vivo X3 and not only will it take the Ascend P6’s crown but it will also become the first smartphone to break the all-important 6mm thickness barrier.

Due to launch in the coming weeks, the Vivo X3 recently leaked via Chinese social network Weibo. Images depict the phone’s incredibly slender frame and interesting blue finish as well as comparisons with popular phones like the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

Sat side by side, the X3 is clearly slimmer than the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 , although of course both are still very thin and sleek devices in their own right. It marginally beats the Huawei Ascend P6 (6.18mm) too, coming in at just under 6mm (0.236 inches).

At the moment we don’t know much else about the device, although the leaked images did come with rumours of premium audio gear playing a big part in the Vivo X3, which is something of a trademark for manufacturers BBK, apparently.

With the manufacturer being little-known and from China, we suspect this phone will only see the light of day in Asia. However, if you’re one for the thinnest and lightest gadgets you might be able to import one when the time comes.
