**UPDATED** HTC Confirms Android 4.1 Jelly Bean coming to HTC One X & One S

**Update**

Tech Website CNET Uk has confirmed with HTC that teh Andorid Jelly Bean 4.1 update will be coming to its current flagship handsets the HTC one S and the HTC One X.

The mobile maker told CNET: “We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.”

But we still don’t know when said update will be available, however we can expect a quick turnaround as many other manufacturers are also rushing to get the update on their smartphones.

A pair of popular HTC smartphones – the One XL and One S – have been confirmed as being amongst those receiving the upcoming Android update to version 4.1 Jelly Bean. The word comes from Australian network Telstra which mentions both HTC models in its list of ‘update in progress’ handsets. However the details shared still don’t reveal the schedule for the update (and doesn’t necessarily promise the same in the U.K).

The HTC One XL is a mirror of the One X which was announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress in February and launched for sale in the U.K in April. It’s is powered by impressive 1.5GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and current Android version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich came pre-loaded. The noticeable difference between the HTC One X and One XL is that the One XL caters for mobile data connection on the speedy LTE (4G) data network – which is yet to make it over here.

The HTC One S is a dual-core sibling also outted at the MWC and the middle-weight of the One range. This smartphone also came with Android 4.0 installed from the unboxing and is one of those in line for the next step in the Google operating software’s evolution with the Aussie company reporting next to both of these devices that “HTC is preparing an update but is yet to confirm the date it will be submitted for Telstra testing.”

It comes as no surprise that these impressive HTC smartphones just a few months out of the box are some of the first to be announced for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update but at least this confirmation can start the speculation and excitement for when the sweet new update does show up.

A number of HTC owners (particularly the Desire HD) are still awaiting the current update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and it’s been a “will they” or “won’t they” kind of affair which the Gadget Helpline has been following this past week!
