The HTC One (M8) SIM free stock release delayed to 1st April

When the new HTC One (formerly known as the M8) was announced on Tuesday, many fans of the device were keen to get their hands on the new Android flagship device, but after an initial promise of March 28th for the handset to be released, HTC has been encountering some supply issues ahead of that date.

Our friends at Unlocked-Mobiles.com have informed us that due to a “Customs Delay” the release of the SIM-free HTC One (M8) has been delayed by a few days. The retailer is expecting to receive the stock Saturday or Monday (29th or 31st March) which will mean the handset won’t be delivered to pre-order customers until Tuesday 1st or Wednesday 2nd of April.

Word is that all SIM-free suppliers will be experiencing the same delays, but we have no information on whether these delays will affect UK networks as well.

Just moments after the New HTC One (or M8 as it will forever be known as) was officially unveiled, our thoughts immediately turned to when we could get our hands on the Android smartphone. The UK retailer now has the HTC One M8 SIM-Free available for pre-order today and priced at £534.98 inc VAT. If you put in a pre-order soon you could be receiving the handset unlocked by March 28th (this Friday).

It has always been thought that the new version of the HTC One would be arriving soon after its initial announcement, but this 3 day turnaround is really a surprise. In the US, every carrier other than Verizon will be selling the phone from the first week in April. If you’re on Verizon then you should be able to walk into a store in the US right now and pick one up.

The New HTC One (M8) is set to follow on from last year’s One as a much sought-after Android smartphone as the newer version comes with a 5-inch Full HD display which boasts a 1080p (440 PPI) resolution, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor and Duo rear Cameras with LED flash and Full HD recording, all running off the latest Android KitKat 4.4.2 OS with the latest HTC Sense 6 interface.

The handset also follows on with the all in one full metal body that is durable and beautiful and packs in dual front facing stereo ‘BoomSound’ speakers for listening to music.

We already love the HTC One M8 and cannot wait to see how it stacks up against the incoming Samsung Galaxy S5. Stock from Unlocked Mobiles is due Friday March 28th and will be available in Gun Metal Grey and Silver White.
