New Super Mario Bros. 2 Available as Digital Download for Nintendo 3DS This Friday

  • by

Nintendo has announced that upcoming sequel New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be amongst the first full games available to purchase on the portable 3DS console through the Nintendo eShop.

The gold-plated plumber appears once more in a traditional platform-based side-scroller which is available in stores here in the UK and Europe this Friday (17th of August). The game looks to improve on its predecessor New Super Mario Bros. that was released six whole years ago in 2006 – but as Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimes promised at this year’s E3 Expo this one is all about the gold and the value of collectable coins, iconic items and familiar foes will be increased adding a new dimension to the gameplay.

Nintendo also has stated this Super Mario title will introduce in-game purchases and buyable bonuses through the eShop which will also play host to a downloadable full version of the game on release day. The game will go straight onto your 2GB SD Card for Nintendo 3DS or super-sized 4GB SD Card for 3DS XL (Find out how to transfer data – here)

Other titles which will be made available this week as digital downloads include New Art Academy and Freakyforms Deluxe. These games, as well as New Super Mario Bros. 2, will also be worth double the usual Star point as found inside all Nintendo-published 3DS games. These Stars can be exchanged for items in the Club Nintendo store ranging from digital goodies such as Mario Kart trophies and wallpapers to physical items such as classic Game & Watch handhelds and an awesome Wii compatible Super Nintendo control pad!
If you want to own the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game on card GAME is offering a free gold coin case for pre-ordering customers while stocks last. But act fast – the game is out in just 4 days!
