The update will bring the build number up to 14.4.B.0.37 and will now offer compatibility with Sony’s Smartband SWR10 and increased functionality with their Lifelog app. Aesthetic adjustments include a transparent navigation bar, changes to the quick settings and status bar as well as new animations and themes.

To check your eligibility, navigate to Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates.

Some people have reported a message saying the update was available, but that they need to connect their Xperia Z1 to a computer. If it suggests this, the update will need to be done manually by flashing the firmware file.

If you’re not on T-Mobile and want to know when to expect your update, you’ll need to speak to your network carrier.
