Skype for Android vulnerability discovered – exposes personal information

A worrying vulnerability has been discovered in the Android version of the very popular Skype app which has around 10 million users world-wide, which can allow hackers to view your personal information.

The discovery was made by the Android Police web team and the video below demonstrates how hackers can gain access to contacts, profiles, IM logs and pretty much any other information stored within your account.

The vulnerability occurs because of improper permissions on key files, this was originally found in the new video application although was reproduced in the standard version of Skype for Android as well.  The information that is stored within Skype is not only accessible but also unencrypted, which is just what any rogue developer would love to get hold of.
