OnLive Internet-Based Gaming Lands On Android – Apple iPhone & iPad Owners Still Waiting

OnLive – the internet-based gaming service launched in the UK for personal computers on September 22nd, since that time its undoubted success has been confined to our desk machine. But from yesterday the service has gone mobile, touching down on gadgets loading with Google’s Android operating system from version 2.3 and above. It was also slated for Apple’s iOS gadgets, the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. However, this version is still strangely absent from the App Store.

The free-to-download application allows OnLive registered customers to access their gaming content from a range of Android (and Apple) gadgets via Wi-Fi or through 3G connected internet provided the service it adequate to shift mega-sized game files. But just let’s face it – most aren’t. The only added cost required will be £39.99 for the essential OnLive wireless controller, but if you’re already signed up and getting your game on you should probably already own this.

Gingerbread-running mobile owners and Honeycomb running tablet owners can now boastfully enjoy a variety of top gaming titles such as Batman: Arkham City, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and L.A. Noire in their lap or in the palm of their hand – ahead of their Apple supporting rivals who are currently left waiting for OnLive to go live.

OnLive’s reasoning for the delay is that Apple are still clinging onto the gaming app putting it through its rigorous criteria checks assuring it’s a worthy addition to the world famous App Store. Apple have previously been known to snub subscription gaming, so hopefully the same will not apply with OnLive during a recent UK rampage for the popular online game store.
