Nokia Lumia 920 on sale at Vodafone in 2013, update launched to fix camera issues

Vodafone has confirmed that it will be stocking the Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 smartphone in the new year, which will end the exclusivity deal that Nokia has had with 4G network EE since the phone was originally released.

Vodafone made the following statement:

“Already confirmed as heading to Vodafone in the New Year are the Nokia Lumia 820, the HTC 8X and HTC 8S. They’re a stunning set of Windows Phone 8 handsets, but one more can’t hurt, can it? With that in mind, we’re donning the party hats early in light of the news that we’ll also be stocking the Nokia Lumia 920,”

The Lumia 920 is a hefty piece of smartphone with a huge a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display and a dual-core S4 Pro processor, rocking an impressive 8MP PureView camera all running off the latest Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS which means it’s the best iteration of the software and hardware we’ve seen on a Windows Phone to date. It’s also a bit of a beast, weighing in at a hefty 185g.

The Lumia 920 was originally announced back in September and when the phone was officially released after the Windows Phone 8 launch it was exclusively sold through EE for the first month. That time has now passed and Vodafone will be one of many suppliers to be stocking the smartphone in the new year.

Additionally, US and Canadian owners of the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 WP8 phones will be getting software updates for their handsets in the coming weeks which includes improved Bluetooth connectivity, enhanced battery management, improvements in messaging, a more efficient and reliable start-up sequence and a highly anticipated camera fix.

Customers on the AT&T network in the US and Rogers in Canada will be getting an update notification when they are connected to Wi-Fi in the near future, and the update should download automatically to their handsets.

Hopefully when the Lumia 920 is released in the UK it will come with the new update out of the box to avoid any issues.
