Nokia Lumia 1020 depicted in black, white and yellow options

  • by

Nokia’s next flagship Windows Phone is just days away from becoming a reality, and right on queue we’ve scored some interesting bits of information, including confirmation of its name; the Nokia Lumia 1020.

The phone was originally known as the Nokia EOS and recently revealed to be the Lumia 1020 by successful Twitter tipster @evleaks, who then changed their mind and advised that the final model number will be the Lumia 909. However, some snaps taken on the phone itself and recently uploaded to Flickr by Windows Phone chief Joe Belfiore show the model number Lumia 1020, confirming what we originally knew. The tech world quickly jumped on this, and of course Mr Belfiore has since made these pictures private.

Further to the model number being confirmed, renders of the phone in three of Nokia’s usual colours – yellow, white and black – have been revealed by Windows Phone Central. These renders match up with the real life prototype which was photographed a few weeks back, and the colours also match up with images of parts that were leaked months ago.

Joe Belfiore…taken on a Nokia Lumia 1020?

Nokia’s classic bright yellow is shown alongside the distinctly less exciting black and our favourite, the gloss white – three colours which Nokia has used before on numerous other Lumia handsets. One colour is missing however, and that’s the glossy red version of which we caught a glimpse courtesy of another Far Eastern leak.

We won’t have much longer to wait until the phone becomes official, with a big media event already penned in for July 11th – that’s this Thursday – in New York City. There Nokia is expected to reveal a flagship smartphone to top the Lumia 925, which itself was only launched within the last few months.

The Lumia 1020 is said to feature the same 4.5-inch LED display as the Lumia 920, 2GB of RAM and of course, the 41 megapixel camera on the back. This huge sensor, which first debuted on the 808 PureView, will be complemented by both Xenon and LED flash modules and will feature Nokia’s PureView technology and optical image stabilisation.
