Nokia comms boss tweets out – Denies Microsoft purchase of mobile unit

Nokia’s UK communications boss has Twitter-slapped the speculation that the company’s mobile unit is to be snapped up by Microsoft.

Mark Squires used his 140 character limit to crush the claims made by Nokia antagonist and resident spoiler, “EldarMurtazin”, regarding the acquisition of  Nokia’s mobile division. The rumour was made all the more believable following recent claims suggesting Microsoft’s Bing service would be backed by Nokia Navteq maps and increasing public pally-ness between Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer and the Finn-based firm would direct many to thinking there was some truth to be found.

Tweeting as “DrPinball” Squires, was quick to deny, stating “We typically don’t comment on rumors. But we have to say that Eldar’s rumors are getting obviously less accurate with every passing moment”. This was followed by another tweet addressing a question from another Tweetard claiming that Murtizan’s rumour had “no basis in fact”.

So now you know.
