MWC 2012: ZTE Era Quad-core Smartphone Announced – Along with Skate Acqua, Kis, Blade, Mimosa X, PF200, N910 (Android) & Orbit (Windows Phone)

Chinese mobile-maker ZTE has bombed the Mobile World Congress with announcement of a huge selection of new “high-end” gadgets including a number of Android smartphones, a few tablets and its latest push into the Windows Phone Market. In this article the Gadget Helpline takes a look at those Android offerings coming out of Barcelona.

Starting with the big daddy – The ZTE Era has been announced as the quad-core flagship or the range which has been wowing us with respectable spec smartphones at an affordable price. This gadget will define the era of ZTE and tips the scale with a 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and coming complete with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The ZTE Era will feature generous 4.3” qhD display with 960 x 540 resolution with HSPA+ support, and Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi for connectivity – all contained within a body that’s only 7.8mm thick.

Next up the ZTE Skate Acqua, a successor to the original Skate (or Orange Monte Carlo) which was released last March, we then got word of the ZTE Kis and ZTE Blade II – which received little detailing as the torrent of announcements was delivered with gusto.

We also got the official word on the ZTE Mimosa X which again features Android’s latest, version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This 4.3” screened mobile handset will be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 dual-core processor chip (spec not known), a 4GB internal storage with potential to contain up to 32GB of data on MicroSD and it also includes a respectable 5-megapixel shooter.

Also announced prior to the MWC and mentioned again today is the ZTE PF200 which comes rocking a generous 4.3” with 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, qHD touchscreen and an 8-megapixel shooter with 1080p video output. And the ZTE N910, which features a 1.5GHz CPU (allegedly a single core on this one), no spec on screen size or resolution but we’d believe it will be a WVGA display and the gadget will also pack a 5-megapixel rear-camera – and the ZTE PF200 with 4.3”, 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, qHD touchscreen and an 8-megapixel shooter with 1080p video output. In addition to the Android goodness, ZTE has also unveiled its next stab at the Window Phone market, following up from the recent sub-£200 model the Tania, the latest announcement – the ZTE Orbit – will come along with next Windows Phone update Tango.

To complement these mobile handsets there will be a new custom skin called ZTE Mifavour – a musical number featuring apps and customisations with “touch and share” and file sharing software.
