Lumia 530 UK Release Date, Specs

The Lumia 530, Nokia’s sort of successor to the astoundingly popular mid range Lumia 520, was announced just last month, but no UK release has been announced up until now, because Microsoft have finally announced the release date.

The Nokia Lumia 530 Windows 8.1 smartphone (to give it its full title) will be launching in the UK on September the 4th, just in time for IFA 2014 it just so happens, with a launch guide price of ‘just as little as £60‘.

This next generation budget Lumia Windows 8.1 device will be coming out with some pretty decent hardware on board, although obviously we’re talking ‘decent for the price’ as opposed to ‘decent in comparison to high end models’.

There’s a 4 inch LCD display, which will show content delivered by a 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 200 processor. That’s right, the GHz count might be pretty low, but there’s a quad core processor in there, perfect for multitasking or supporting big memory hogging apps.

The phone also includes 4GB of internal storage space, with the familiar option to upgrade to up to 128GB using a small SD card which can slot into an external expansion slot. You can also store up to 15GB of files for free on Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage space. Also, the phone packs 512GB of RAM, which isn’t that great, but it’ll get the job done.

To fill up your memory there’s a 5GB rear facing camera, and, although there’s not a front facing camera, selfie fans can apparently take those vanity shots with an included ‘voice guided selfie’ feature.

The 530’s three colours. Green and orange? Now I want some Tic Tacs.

“With high-end apps, features and exceptional build quality at an amazing price, the Lumia 530 sets a new benchmark for affordable smartphones,” says Conor Pierce, VP at the UK Microsoft Devices division.

”The Lumia 530 demonstrates our focus on welcoming more people to the Windows Phone ecosystem.”
