LG Nexus 5X and V10 Surface Prior to Launch Events

  • by

LG is preparing for its next big launch event in New York and with a few potential smartphones up its sleeve is teasing us with a new promo clip which suggests we might be seeing not just the new Nexus 5X on September 29th but also another model – the LG V10 on October the 1st.

Just days before LG hits the Big Apple, it has released the very short and stylish video, which at first focuses on a young lady receiving a rather strange and straight haircut. The girl fades from view and in her fringe line appears the faintest glimpse of what looks like the forward facing camera lenses and the ‘ticker’ top section on the screen of the recently leaked LG V10. And it definitely doesn’t look like any part of the Nexus 5X that we’ve been privy to so far.

So with two new smartphones potentially being released by LG a week from today what are the differences between each model?

Here’s a brief rundown of some of the specification speculations for each –

Think of the Nexus 5X as a little cousin to the Nexus 6P, which is also soon to launch but is Huawei-made. Both carry similar form factors as far as appearance goes, however the 5X features a smaller 5.2-inch touchscreen display with 1080p resolution which fills much of the front surface. The devices will both share and usher in the new Android OS – 6.0 Marshmallow which also launches next Tuesday.

The Nexus 5X handset is suggested to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processing chipset clocked at 1.8GHz, with a rumoured 3GB of RAM – or a more reasonable sounding 2GB in some reports including a product listing pulled by Amazon. 16GB internal storage comes on-board as standard with 12.3-megapixel main camera at the rear and 5-megapixel secondary shooter up front. There’s also word of a finger-print scanner at the rear, LTE/4G connectivity and a choice of colours in Charcoal Black, Quartz White, and Ice Blue.

As for the LG V10 which we sample in the video, the handset is being referred to as dual-screen because of its ‘ticker’ bar which will be featured at the top offering a selection of quick access buttons separate from the main screen. Overall the working touch surface will be 5.7-inches and displayed in QHD quality. This model comes with the same Snapdragon 808 processor as the Nexus 5X also featuring 2GB of RAM but 64GB of storage out of the box. The main camera provides a generous 16-megapixels and the front camera a standard 5-megapixels.

Not much more is known of the LG V10 smartphone and it enters next week’s press event as a bit of a wildcard. Till then enjoy the leaked images kindly shared by Android Police.
