Jelly Bean update released for Sony XPERIA tablets

Sony has announced that it will be rolling out the Android Jelly Bean OS update to its range of Android powered XPERIA tablet devices from today. Sony states that the update will be coming out to its production server today (April 18th 2013) between 9am – 10am Pacific Standard Time.

The news was posted in the Sony Community support forum and states:

Community Members,

We are pleased to announce the release of the Jelly Bean update for the Xperia Update which will be pushed out to our production server on April 18th 2013 between 9am – 10am pacific standard time.

The Xperia Tablet will receive a notification on the bottom right hand corner that a System Update is available.

This release will be for the United States, Canada, and Latin America Region.  Please check with your specific region support page for your release time.

This does mean that the update is limited to the Americas for now but it’s a good sign for all XPERIA tablet users for the future. The update should hit the Sony Xperia Tablet S and the newer Xperia Tablet Z in due time.
