Internet Explorers: TheMovieBox.net – Our favorite movie trailer site!

Hello, hello, it’s time for another look into the information super highway (oh how very 90’s), where we at the Gadget Helpline look to share some of our favourite slices of the web in the form of a website, Tumblr page, Facebook Group, Twitter account or any other web-based service. If we like it then we will share it with you guys.

This week we are looking towards those moving picture things… and we are presenting our favourite website in the form of www.TheMovieBox.net, which has been a firm favourite in our search history for many years now, as it gives you an unadulterated view of all the latest movie trailers, features, TV spots and any other film-related vids.

Now the thing that sets theMovieBox.net apart from other websites is its simple design and the use of virtually any format of video to provide you with ALL of the trailers from across the web.

What you can do is visit the main site, or if you are like us and just want trailer goodness, then for all the latest movies you can go direct to http://themoviebox.net/view/trailers and just see the latest trailers from sources such as Apple, Yahoo, YouTube and any other places on the web that trailers may appear.

You can choose to just browse a list of the latest film-related videos, or if you find something you like, The Hobbit for example, you can select the film and then select to “View all trailers / clips for:” at the bottom of the page to bring up all of the linked videos, from teaser trailers to production blogs, TV spots to international trailers, red-band trailers and even behind the scenes footage.

What we love about theMovieBox is the simple page layout and the ability to just peruse new and unknown trailers without having to navigate many trailers sites.

Additionally, if you are a fan of TV spots or featurettes you can filter the feed with a number of “Channels” into:

  • Trailers
  • TV Spots
  • Film Clips
  • Featurettes
  • Misc
  • View All

But one of our favourite ways to waste a few minute is to select the random button and see any of the many (and we mean many; the clips go back a whole year and a half) videos in a random fashion to try and discover some new films coming up.

How else would we have ended up watching the trailer for “The FP”; a film set in a dystopian future where two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park (“The FP”) in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game “Beat-Beat Revelation.” That is thankfully a comedy spoof!

The website is far from perfect as it can sometimes host videos that are not allowed outside of their home country, and sometimes videos are removed, but with its sheer amount of movie-related video content that makes it a winner for us every time.

That’s it for this week’s Internet Explorers! We will be back next week with another little slice of the internet.
