HTC Ville Smartphone Leaks in Video, Shows off Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4.0

With the Mobile World Congress drawing closer, HTC’s leaky past has started to come back to haunt it. We’ve already seen a render of one of their unannounced smartphones, the Ville, leaked (above), and now that same phone has made a surprise appearance in a short video uploaded to YouTube.

From the render above we can see that it’s definitely the same phone – curved edges around the screen and that familiar unibody casing we’ve seen before on phones like the Sensation. Although the quality of the video isn’t the best, it gives us an exciting glimpse at how the software will run on HTC’s next batch of phones that can be expected to land later this year.

This phone is running the latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0.1, alongside a brand new version of HTC’s Sense user interface, again version 4.0. HTC has a past of customising Android and tweaking things to give its products a touch of individuality, and that looks like it’s going to carry through into its 2012 portfolio of devices. From the widgets on the homescreen to the interactive menu structures and icons, we can tell that Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 4.0 is going to be awesome.

The lock screen in Sense 4.0 appears to be the same as in the current version that’s on handsets such as the Sensation. We can see the ring and the 4 customisable app icons at the lock screen, and everything looks very similar here.

When the handset is unlocked we can see how the bottom section of the homescreen has changed with ICS, now showing 4 default apps and a grid to enter the apps menu. The screen is confirmed as a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED and it looks pretty bright and colourful from the video.

The lucky fellow in the video kindly goes through the ‘about device’ settings to show us what’s inside this beast. The processor is a 1.5GHz Dual-Core, most likely from Qualcomm, rear camera is 8-Megapixels, front-facing camera is VGA quality and we’ve also got 16GB of onboard storage, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Our eagle eyes spotted the Beats Logo and the Beats Sound Enhancer software within the settings screen, which means that the Ville will likely be bundled with Beats premium headphones to accompany the EQ-customising software.

Check out the video below right now, as HTC might catch on and get it removed from YouTube! Don’t forget to let us know what you think.
