HTC are also making a Quad-Core Tegra 3 Tablet – HTC Quattro pictured and detailed

  • by

HTC’s intentions of joining the Quad-Core tablet revolution have been made very clear this afternoon, after an image and details for a Tegra 3 tablet have leaked online.

Codenamed the HTC Quattro, the image above is the first render we’ve seen for HTC’s next tablet effort. Details so far are fairly slim, but we do know for certain that this tablet will be fast, utilising the new Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core processor.

The HTC Quattro will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen – the fairly standard size for higher end Android tablets these days – with a resolution of 1280 x 768.

Early information shows that the tablet will also feature the standard 1GB of RAM, plus 16GB of internal storage. We would expect both 16 and 32GB models to become available when this device hits the market, with room for expansion via a Micro SD card slot.

HTC’s Quattro tab is also said to be less than 9mm thick, putting it into the same league as the iPad 2 and ASUS Transformer Prime in terms of dimensions.

PocketNow, who broke the story first, interestingly are under the impression that the Quattro will only pack a 2-megapixel rear camera plus a 720p capable 1.3-megapixel front facing webcam. This makes us rather dubious as to the reliability of the specs sheet that has now been plastered all over the web. Surely HTC won’t make a super fast Quad-Core tablet but weigh its success down by using sub-par camera parts.

With ASUS managing to get the first Quad-Core tablet onto the market next month with the Transformer Prime, we would expect HTC to not be too far behind with their own Tegra 3 effort. With that in mind, we’re expecting the Quattro to get an official unveiling at the Mobile World Conference in February 2012, perhaps alongside the Quad-Core HTC Edge smartphone.

Take the specifications with a pinch of salt folks, but we’re in no doubt that HTC will be unveiling a Quad-Core tablet early next year.
