HTC Flyer Gets £150 Price Slash, Making Way For HTC Jetstream Tablet?

  • by

The price of tablets is falling left, right and centre lately! Best Buy has just slashed the price of the 7-inch HTC Flyer Android Tablet in the UK by £150, making it £329.99.

HTC’s 7-inch Flyer Tablet was released earlier this year and is the first Tablet device released by the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, more famed for the hugely successful Android smartphones such as the Desire and Wildfire.

The Flyer Tablet runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and features a unique ‘Magic Pen’ feature which allows the user to draw and notate on the screen using a special stylus-type pen.

Last week UK retailers began what some were calling a ‘fire sale’ on the HP TouchPad, dropping the price to just £89.99 for the 16GB model, after HP announced that they would no longer be producing and supporting WebOS, the TouchPad Tablet and the Pre smartphone series.

Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse are currently the only UK retailers to offer the price drop, which takes the price from £479.99 down to £329.99 – a huge saving of £150. Their sale price runs until 21st September, so you should have plenty of chance to pick one up.

We have to wonder why Best Buy are offering a discount this big and for quite so long – perhaps they bought too much stock and the Flyer isn’t selling as well as hoped? Another theory that we quite like the sound of is that stock is being shifted to make way for HTC’s second tablet, the 10.1-inch Jetstream.

Will you be picking up a cheap HTC Flyer Tablet over the coming weeks?

EDIT: Currys stores are now also offering the same discount across the UK.
