Hacking group LulzSec calls it quits

The notorious hacking group who has been behind the attack of several high-profile websites over the last couple of months have decided to disband.

A statement was published on a file sharing website saying that the groups “planned 50-day cruise has expired”.

Part of the statement reads “Our planned 50 day cruise has expired, and we must now sail into the distance, leaving behind – we hope – inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love. If anything, we hope we had a microscopic impact on someone, somewhere.”

In a recent interview with the Associated Press on Friday, one member said the group had at least 5GB of government and law enforcement data from around the world, which it planned to release in the next few weeks.

One alleged member, Ryan Cleary was arrested as part of a Scotland Yard and FBI investigation into LulzSec and has subsequently been charged with hacking the website of the UK Serious Organised Crime Agency.
