Google Pixel and Pixel XL Handset Photos Leaked

  • by

A convincing-looking early glimpse at what could turn out to be Google’s next flagship smartphones has been leaked and shared online for our viewing enjoyment.

From previous descriptions and rumours – and the fact that the devices are seen displaying the newest Android boot-up screens, what we’re seeing here (courtesy of Android Police) could indeed be Google’s Nexus successors – the Pixel and the Pixel XL.

First believed to be based on the HTC Marlin and Starfish an unreleased duo of handsets, the pair pictured carries some of the similar appearances and features of those prototype models – as well as some details carried forward from the soon to be discontinued Nexus brand. This including circle fingerprint sensor in the centre back and the banding across the bottom back casing. Although the Marlin and Starfish seen before did not feature the camera in the top corner and were in black, these are in a very light aluminium finish (two colours might be available when released). At the bottom front some branding appears to have been whitewashed to avoid revealing the devices’ true identity.

As well as these front and back side views of the new Google Pixel handsets, a potential starting price has also been shared with the standard sized Pixel supposedly costing $649 (approximately £500).

Some reported specs on the larger Pixel XL include 5.5-inch QHD display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 GPU with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable. A 13-megapixel main camera and 3,450mAh battery are expected, and both the Pixel and Pixel XL will be the debut platforms for Google’s new Android N (7.1) operating system.
