Google Nexus 5 specifications leak in full, reveal LG G2-like makings

  • by

The Nexus 5 from Google is now a given thanks to numerous leaks, rumours and pictures. We’re expecting to see the phone alongside the introduction of Android 4.4 later this month and just in time; a full specification sheet for the LG-made phone has popped up.

A repair manual for the currently unannounced phone, most likely intended for internal use only at LG and Google, surfaced online this weekend courtesy of Android Police, who naturally shared it for all to see. The manual not only reveals the design of the phone – which matches up with recent renders – but an extensive (and impressive) specification sheet which almost matches up with LG’s recently launched and very impressive G2.

According to the manual, the Nexus 5 will rock a 4.95-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen, a very powerful 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, amongst other impressive aspects. On the back of the phone will be an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, though we’re not expecting the same interestingly placed volume buttons to flank the camera, as on the G2.

Google’s new phone will also sport 4G mobile connectivity, a large 2,300 mAh battery (200 mAh larger than the Nexus 4) and both wireless charging and wireless payment support – the latter making use of an NFC chip, with a new Payments section to be added in Android 4.4 as we spotted earlier this week.

LG’s latest G2 is an impressive phone that’s poised to rival Samsung’s Galaxy S4, though many reviewers have noted that whilst the hardware and design are impressive, the software and LG’s numerous additions feel like a step too far. With that said, a version of the phone with stock Android could be the perfect combination of hardware and software.

Going by the specs revealed by the leaked manual, the Nexus 5 will be identical to the LG G2, save for a slightly smaller screen and battery, and a lower resolution rear camera. Google should be revealing its new Nexus later this month alongside Android 4.4.

UPDATE: CONFIRMED.

Thanks to new information from our source we have been able to confirm some of the specifications of the Google Nexus 5, including the Full HD display, Qualcomm chip and more. Stay tuned for a full rundown and screenshots coming right up.
