Google I/O: Samsung reveals Chrome OS laptop

It’s official, we’re starting to see the Chrome OS netbooks making an appearance, and the latest is an offering from Samsung which they are calling the Series 5 ChromeBook.

The new netbook will be based on Google’s new standard ChromeBook spec – which will mean that it will feature a dual-core Intel Atom processor, and what Google call an “all day” battery as well, which should provide up to 8.5 hours of continuous use.

The netbook will weigh only 3.26 pounds and comes with Wi-Fi, optional global 3G, two USB 2.0 ports, HD webcam, 16GB mSATA solid state drive, and also a clickable trackpad.

You’ll be able to get your hands on one of these from either Amazon or Best Buy starting on 24th of June. The Wi-Fi version will cost $429/£349 and the 3G model for $499/£399.
