Gaming Weekly – PSVita Release Date, Fifa 12 Beats PES and Battlefield 3 needs installs

FIFA 2012 Tops PES 2012 25:1 in sales

In additional FIFA 12 news, a recent claim from EA that the game outsold PES 2012 by 25 to 1 was well received by fans of the franchise, which had of late been wrestling the early football title market share from PES.

EA Europe VP Keith Ramsdale was very pleased by the franchise’s turnaround in recent times.

“When you look at Pro Evolution Soccer versus FIFA, only five years ago in the UK PES was outselling FIFA. On its first weekend like-for-like we’ve just outsold PES by 25 times,” he said.

“That’s a sign of the momentum and the fanbase and community behind FIFA, and let’s be clear, an absolutely kick-arse game. It’s unbelievable.”

This comes as good news after EA announced that FIFA 12 had shifted 3.2 million units on the first week of sale while PES 2012 entered the UK chart in fifth position just this week, trailing three spots below FIFA in its third week on sale.

Battlefield 3 Producers Say: Install Your Xbox 360 Copy

According to Battlefield 3 developers, installing the game to the Xbox 360 hard drive is “absolutely” essential.

Those without a hard drive using the Xbox 360 version will find that an option to activate “HD installation content” option which will leave them with what Dice has labeled a “standard-def” game.

“The controversy about this is that we actually let you do it on 360 for once. So what it does is it gives you the same abilities, kind of, as the PC and PS3. You can actually stream information from the hard-drive,” Battlefield 3 executive producer Patrick Bach explained.

“That’s new for Xbox 360, but it’s not a new idea for the gaming industry as a whole. No one has really tried to do it properly, so us doing it will create question marks.”

“It does make a difference, yes, absolutely,” he added. “The whole engine is based around streaming textures, streaming terrain and a lot of other content.”

Battlefield 3 on Xbox 360 comes as a two disc set, with the “HD installation content” found on disc one.

Shipping both discs and installation options was a necessity when developing a game for Xbox 360, said Patrick Bach – as some models of xbox still sell minus the all-important hard drive.

“We need to give you the option of installing it, rather than just demanding it. You could call it a standard-def version for the 360 if you don’t have a hard-drive,” he added.

“For us, it’s about how we can give you the most game ever, even though the hardware is over five years old.”

Pokemon Grey Web URL Registered – Third Black/White Generation Game Coming?

A website with the domain name ‘pokemongrey.com’ was recently logged by Australian URL registrar Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services – the company that registered the pokemonblackwhite.com domain name which is currently being used by Nintendo of America.

Gotta catch em' all!

No confirmation of plans for a third game in the Black/White set have come from Nintendo, but hopefully a game in that set arriving wouldn’t be too surprising to fans, as the trend with the Pokemon franchise is to release a third game after a double color set.

Nintendo is also holding a 3DS webcast on Friday, promising new announcements, hopefully one of which may be the latest Pokemon game In other Nintendo news, the platform holder is holding a 3DS webcast this friday, with new announcements promised. Seems like as good a time as any to lift the lid on a new Pokémon title.

A bit of a dull color choice, but hey, more Pokemon is always good.
