Fujitsu Announces Quad-Core Smartphone – Set to Debut at MWC Before Hitting UK & Europe

  • by

Fujitsu will be heading into the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona next Monday to show off at least one new Japanese-made smartphones in preparation to take on the likes of HTC, Samsung and Apple in the ever-competitive UK and Europe mobile market.

Fujitsu is the maker of the first Japanese Windows Phone but is making its intentions loud and clear in regards to its new Google Android 4.0 offering. In chatting with a fellow tech site Fujitsu’s spokesperson says simply “Fujitsu Mobile is coming” – but despite a rumoured quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, the same CPU chip set as will soon be employed by HTC, it seems they may not have the game plan in full check just yet and continue unreassuringly “the handsets we’ll have on-stand might not be the exact versions or model numbers that end up in the high-street, simply because they were designed for the Japanese market with NTT Docomo.”

World's first quad-core smartphone. Made by Fujitsu - as seen at CES.

You may recall news from January’s Consumer Electronics Show which mentioned a Fujitsu offering confined to a Perspex prison but surrounded by myth and mystery – including a generous 4.6” LCD capacitive touchscreen with HD resolution and a 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter. And of course, it’s the 1.4GHz quad-core processor that makes us think this could be the model resurfacing at the MWC with a future European launch on the cards.
