Black Friday: Pebble gives smartwatches a major price cut

With the ever increasing popularity of wearable technology, and today being Black Friday, we all knew that there were going to be at least a few discounted offering from some of the major players – and the guys at Pebble have not disappointed.

For anyone that isn’t familiar with the Pebble Watch; it was released in 2013, funded by the crowd funding platform Kickstarter and works slightly differently to a lot of smart watches currently on the market, that’s because it uses a black and white e-paper display. This allows it to have a much better battery life cycle; in-fact the company say that the watch is capable of lasting up to 7 days before needing a charge, compared to some others that may only last around a day before you have to charge it again.

As you’d expect from a smart watch, the Pebble is able to inform you of any text messages you’ve received, along with emails, incoming calls and messaging you’ve been sent from various social media sources.

Getting back to the Black Friday offer, Pebble is offering both smart watch models at a reduced price. The original Pebble watch and also Pebble Steel are being offered at a 20% and 25% discount for today, up until the 30th November via their own retail store. Therefore instead of $99 for the original Pebble, you can expect to pay $79. If it’s the Pebble Steel that tickles your fancy, instead of $199 you can now pick one up for $149.

Personally I think that this is a great price for a really good Smart Watch, it works with both Android and iOS devices and currently overs over 1000 compatible apps, increasing the capabilities of this watch dramatically. For example, if you happen to own a GoPro camera, you can use the Pebble watch as a remote – quite handy indeed.

So, if you’ve been debating as to whether to get one in the past, or perhaps you like what you’ve read, either way now is a perfect time for picking one up, I’m sure you’ll agree.
