Apple ups price of Apps for iPhone and iPad

Apple is raising the prices of its apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch through its “famous” App Store and if you didn’t think you were putting enough into the Jobs Squad, this latest outrage will push your buttons (or touch your touchscreen – to update the analogy!)

Many fees will be increased by 10-pence, many more by 50-pence and some of the 425,000 different apps even set to rise as much as a whopping one pound! The lowest price apps, once costing 59p will now cost a staggering 69p, apps previously costing £1.79 become £1.99 and £2.99 will be.. £2.99? Strangely. £2.99 apps are the only ones to stay at the same price level.

Apple is also set to introduce business apps through a Paid Applications Agreement, meaning businesses can create and sell custom B2B apps specifically tailored for a customer’s needs – and in greater volume.

So it looks like there’s an App Store overhaul coming, and it affects everyone from Joe Public to Mr Whitecollar. With 15-billion applications already downloaded we don’t think many buyers will be App-rehensive. Here’s the full list of those App Store price increases:

59p > 69p
£1.19 > £1.49
£1.79 > £1.99
£2.39 > £2.49
£2.99 > £2.99
£3.49 > £3.99
£3.99 > £4.99
£4.99 > £5.49
£5.49 > £5.99
£5.99 > £6.99
£6.99 > £7.99
£7.49 > £8.99
£8.99 > £10.49
£9.49 > £10.99
