Activision Announces The Walking Dead on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC

Activision has announced that gaming fans of the popular zombie telly series The Walking Dead will soon get to step into the shoes of the Dixon brothers – Daryl and Merle – in a new first person shooter set during the outbreak of the fictional infection!

In the new game, we will play out previously unseen scenarios featuring the ruthless redneck duo as they make their way to the city of Atlanta, which viewers of the TV show will know is overrun by “Walkers” – reanimated corpses affected by a virus of unknown origin. Darryl and Merle will meet new characters along the way and gamer’s survival will be challenged not only by fending off the undead but also by managing their supplies and ammunition, of which there is a limited supply. Also to incorporate the human element, which is a focal point of the programme, decisions made in the game will affect events to come – every action will have a consequence.

You will be correct in thinking that The Walking Dead already has a game made in its name and an episodic game has been available through the Playstation Network, Xbox LIVE, Windows PC and Apple iOS for a few months now with five parts set to be released periodically. This game follows the plight of another new character Lee Everett and features faces and themes familiar to fans of the TV show and comic book series.

The new version of The Walking Dead will be published by Activision for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PC (with no release date specified). We’re pretty sure the game should be in safe hands as it’s being developed by the team at Terminal Reality who proved they had an eye for detail, accuracy and reference with 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game which served as satisfying substitute to the long absent sequel to the two popular movies.
