4oD (Channel 4 On Demand) Updates to Offer Offline Viewing

Brit broadcaster Channel 4 has released an update for its 4oD app for Android and Apple iOS. The update to version 3.0 of the on-demand service now allows telly fans to download some of their favourite shows for viewing offline on both of the leading mobile platforms for smartphones and tablets.

After updating the 4oD software on your device and registering some address details you should notice a ‘Download’ icon now appears along with the preview picture of many shows from the past 30 days across the Channel 4 family (Channel 4, E4, More 4) including Hollyoaks, Made in Chelsea and One Born Every Minute. Choosing to Download will put these items in a queue where they will be transferred onto the tablet or smartphone over Wi-Fi (or at the sacrifice of your valuable data allowance, a good 3G connection.)

You’ll find that when offline you’ll be able to access these stored programmes through the app on the dedicated Downloads tab found on the interface, allowing them to be viewed at any place and any time. This is handy for catching up with a favourite series on a long train journey, a day at the beach or similar web-devoid situation.

This latest 4oD update also introduces a series of Collections which have been especially selected by Channel 4 and gathers all episodes of a series, or similar shows into one easy to view section of the app.

4oD and the 3.0 update can be obtained today from Google Play for Android and App Store for Apple iOS.
