20,000 apps now on Windows Phone 7

Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 platform has reached over 20,000 apps in the official Marketplace, according to analytics site wp7applist.com.

The first WP7 mobile phones went on sale just over 7 months ago, and since then developers have continued to fill the Marketplace at a fast pace. Within one month there were 3000 apps available to Windows Phone users.

Each month the Marketplace has gone from strength to strength, recently adding big name titles such as Plants Vs Zombies and Angry Birds to the Xbox LIVE gaming range.

There’s obviously a long, long way to go until Microsoft catches up with the vast number of apps on both Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS.
