12 Samsung Galaxy phones get Android 4.4.4 KitKat update in Oct/Nov

Whilst a lot of Android talk right now is focussed on the newest Android L software, many users still have not had the last iteration of the Android OS, 4.4.4 KitKat, but thanks to a leaked document on G 4 Games , we can now see that a host of Samsung galaxy devices are being readied for the update.

The basic gist of the roadmap is that 12 of Samsung Galaxy handsets will be getting the 4.4.4 update over October and November.

The roadmap lists the following handsets:

  • Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900I)
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900F)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE
  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos
  • Samsung Galaxy Grand 2
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE

Many of the devices have had testing for the new software on them, with the Galaxy S5 and Note 3 variants 4.4.4 testing completed, the KitKat update is scheduled to land in October.

The Galaxy S4 and Note 3 Neo look to be next in line with final testing of the software taking place, with a November release and still being tested with KitKat is the S4 Mini, Grand 2 and Note 2 handsets, but also with a November release date scheduled.

What this means for the devices with a Status of “Pending” is that the handsets are still being tested with the OS, which could go many ways, so don’t take for granted that your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be getting the newest Update, as the testing may show that its simply not possible.

Samsung have already stated that the Samsung Galaxy SIII and S3 Mini won’t get KitKat 4.4 Update!

However, Samsung are looking to get the Android 4.4.4 update out to its big handsets in the coming weeks, which is good news, but once the update has landed, well we start again with the Android L update!
